Sorry About the Toilet Paper, Family

Dear Family,

I am so sorry I bought that crappy toilet paper from the discount store for $1.99. It was a bad, bad decision.
When I looked at those four rolls all wrapped up, they looked thick, and quilted, and squishy. Oh! How they deceived me...
No, instead they are so thin I can see through them, so scratchy I don't want it touching human skin, and so horrid it takes 20 squares to accomplish a normal 3 square job.

I am sorry, Family, for subjecting you to this terrible TP all in the name of "cheap." Yes, I was trying to be cheap. I was couponless and just trying to save a few dollars. But now I know! Never sacrifice ripples and quilting for $2! It's not worth it!

It's just not worth it.

So use up that junk quickly - I know it won't take long - and I promise your tush some real pampering next week. Promise.

Sincerely,

Mom

The Rose Ceremony

I am not a Bachelor watcher. I think it's the stupidest idea for a television show ever invented. Even more stupid than Punk'd or Teen Mom.
I mean, seriously, we watch a very rich and eligible bachelor (or bachelorette!) who can't seem to find love through traditional means (or match.com) go on television to make out with a dozen big-breasted slutty woman who need a man (or a dozen well-toned men who wanted to get laid). And then the claws come out, and the women are seemingly forced into going further than one would ever think possible on television where both his and her parents are watching every move.

But anyway...the point is that the person searching for their soul mate amid the television cameras somehow narrows the list down to six women by giving the chosen ones a rose. These are the people he thinks he might want to spend the rest of his life with. Let's forget about the fact that all they do it make out, Hunky man thinks these ladies might be "the one."

Which made me think - what would *I* give a rose to because I couldn't live without it.
I thought about doing all people, but then someone would feel all left out and not sexy enough because they didn't get a rose.
So I opted to think of six things I would bestow a rose on non person-related.

  1. My Kindle. Oh, how I love your easy reading and your availability of free books. I definitely choose you...
  2. Sweet Tea. I'm addicted to you, you know. I haven't spent time with you I would like lately because of being pregnant, but I promise you're still my favorite.
  3. Chocolate. You make life sane and sweet. You're rich, too. I love you.
  4. My Bible. In the midst of life's chaos, you keep me straight. You have all the right words and advice and are a solid rock in my life.
  5. Clocks. I am such a stickler for time and you know it. How well you keep me and my life on track. I need you!
  6. My camera. You capture every moment. You're there for me day and night. You give me laughs and great memories. I can't live without you.
So there are my 6 non-living life mates. I'm glad I don't have to narrow it down any further...

Registering for School

This week I get to register my adorable 8 pound baby for kindergarten.
Except she's 5 and weighs 50 pounds and she's NOT A BABY ANYMORE!!!

I have been anticipating this day for years. I get to send her to school all day long! So exciting! I can write more, I can spend one-on-one time with Mac (and now, apparently, the one who will be arriving around that time, too). I can get stuff done.

Except now that actual registration is upon us, I'm panicking. I'm not ready to send my sweet little baby out into the world. Kids are cruel. And she won't be with her bestest preschool friends anymore.

I really thought I would be living it up with SB going to Kindy. But I'm not. At least not right now. The best thing about the kids' preschool is that I know all the moms, I know the director, I know what they do. And elementary school is the beginning of my not knowing her every move. I'm so glad she's growing up, but I'm mourning over the little girl she's growing out of.

Maybe it's just hormones talking. And I'm sure by August, when school starts, I'll be shoving her out the door. Maybe.

Favorite Movies

I was just perusing Pinterest - because, you know, it's not like it's 10am on a weekday and I need to get dressed, do dishes, fold laundry or anything like that. Nah...

Anyway, I came across a picture of the scrumptious Ewan McGregor...

...and had a sudden urge to watch Moulin Rouge. I could watch this movie day in and day out, but I don't for the sake of my family.

It's one of my favorites.
Then I thought I could stand to watch Chicago again. Love that one. I love musicals.

But then there's the ultimate musical... The Wizard of Oz. I longed to be Dorothy when I was younger. Who doesn't love Judy?

And I love comedies. When Harry Met Sally is probably in my Top 3 all time favorite movies.

Right along with A League of Their Own. Geena Davis? Tom Hanks? Madonna? Yes, please!

And when I want a little action - Why Indiana Jones is just a click away. Love me some Harrison circa 1980....

And if we're talking 80s...why not Back to the Future? Classics! LOVE these!

I could go on and on - but I'll stop there. I think we need a planned movie day!
